Posted: 09 Feb 2011 10:18 AM PST Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011 The following is a summary of incidents in Rockville to which the Montgomery County Police responded recently. The words "arrested" and "charged" do not imply guilt. 1st District Aggravated assault On Jan. 24 at midnight in the 300 block of Howard Avenue in Rockville. Between a woman and a male relative. The man, from Rockville, attempted to cut the woman and was arrested. On Jan. 20 at 6:43 p.m. at Best Buy, 15750 Shady Grove Road in Rockville. Security officers observed a man concealing two DVD players and confronted him. The man verbally threatened the officers, dropped the property and fled. A second man who was with the man with the DVD players got into a vehicle and picked him up while the confrontation was going on. A third man was observed in the parking lot. The first man is described as black, 45 to 50 years old, 6 feet 2 inches tall, 200 to 250 pounds wearing a pink Nike baseball cap and black clothing. The vehicle was described as a gray Oldsmobile with Washington, D.C., tags. Graffiti Between 9 p.m. on Jan. 18 and 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 19 in the 300 block of Elmcroft Boulevard in Rockville. Black spray paint was used to write words and numbers on two garages. Vehicle larceny On Jan. 19 at a garage at Shady Grove Metro in Rockville. Eleven vehicles had a broken window; GPS units were the main target, although some victims had other loose property taken. Most of the victims had left their vehicle there all day. Between 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 18 and 6:30 a.m. on Jan. 19, 700 block of Cashell Manor Court in Derwood. In one crime, the vent window was broken; unknown if anything taken. In another, the vehicle had been left unlocked; iPod, Bluetooth device taken. At 12:18 a.m. on Jan. 26, 17100 block of Laburnum Court in Derwood. The victim said that between October and November of 2010 his Audi had been broken into and one of the things taken was the vehicle spare key. Over the next few months, there were several unsuccessful attempts to take the vehicle. None of these events was reported to police. Commercial burglary Between 11:25 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. on Jan. 19, SAS, 111 Rockville Pike in Rockville, Unknown entry, property taken. The thief was described as a black man, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, thin build, white winter hat, gray winter jacket, blue jeans. Residential burglary Between 7 p.m. on Jan. 21 and midnight on Jan. 22, 15100 block of Westbury Road in Rockville. Attempted forced entry, no entry gained. Between 8 p.m. on Jan. 21 and 1 a.m. on Jan. 22, 4500 block of Flower Valley Drive in Rockville. Forced entry, property taken. Between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Jan. 21, 14500 block of Parkvale Road in Rockville. Forced entry, property taken. Between 1:01 a.m. on Jan. 21 and 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 22, 15100 block of Columbine Way in Rockville. Forced entry, property taken. Between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Jan. 18, 800 block of College Parkway in Rockville. Forced entry, property taken. Between 3:30 p.m. and 3:52 p.m. on Jan. 20, 300 block of Redland Boulevard in Rockville. Unknown entry to garage, property taken. A 57-year-old homeless man was arrested. Between 3:30 p.m. and 3:52 p.m. on Jan. 20, 400 block of Redland Boulevard in Rockville. Unknown entry to garage, unknown if property taken. Between 7:45 a.m. and 1:39 p.m. on Jan. 21, 100 block of East Argyle Street in Rockville. Attempted forced entry, no entry gained. 4th District Aggravated assault On Jan. 20 at 11:55 p.m. in the 15100 block of Fairlawn Avenue in Silver Spring. A verbal dispute escalated to threats to harm. A 47-year-old man from Silver Spring was arrested. Armed robbery On Jan. 24 at midnight at Goodhill Road and Randolph Road in Wheaton. A man was sitting on the curb when several others approached him. One placed a tire iron to the the man's chest while personal property was taken. After the robbery, one man displayed a gun and another pulled out a knife. Vehicle larceny Between 1 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. on Jan. 18, 18100 block of Marksman Circle in Olney. Four vehicles had a window broken; GPS taken from one vehicle. Commercial burglary Between Jan. 14 and Jan. 23, AB Driving School, 11212 Grandview Ave. in Wheaton. Unknown entry, property taken. Residential burglary Between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 17, 3300 block of Buehler Court in Olney. No forced entry, unknown if property taken. Two people, a 26-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man, both from Olney, were arrested. At 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 20, 14200 block of Pear Tree Lane in Aspen Hill. No forced entry, nothing taken. Between 10:20 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Jan. 24, 14100 block of Weeping Willow Drive in Aspen Hill. No forced entry, property taken. At 11:55 a.m. on Jan. 24, 2700 block of Snowbird Terrace in Aspen Hill. Unknown entry, unknown if anything taken. Between midnight and 7:10 p.m. on Jan. 17, 5100 block of Russet Road in Rockville. Attempted forced entry, no entry gained, nothing taken.
