Carnival Cruise Lines on Monday announced it will donate four Fun Centers, or portable gaming systems with DVD players, to Medical University of South Carolina Children's Hospital's atrium play area.

The donations is part of a partnernship that will bring the pediatric operation $50,000 in donations and services this year.

The cruise line also will donate 1,000 "towel pals," plush critters created in the spirit of towel animals that cruise staff members place in their guests' rooms daily.

Carnival launched a home port service in May that includes at least one ship call to Charleston every week.
