DALLAS - An American Airlines employee is charged with stealing from both passengers and his employer.

DFW Airport authorities said 59-year-old Henry Ibarra, a long-time American Airlines employee, betrayed all the trust anyone ever had in him.

A police investigation into a stole cell phone led them to Ibarra's home in Fort Worth. There investigators found 171 stolen items such as cameras, iPods, headphones, Kindle readers, DVD players and cell phones.

Ibarra was a member of the cleaning crew and had access to passengers' personal items. He allegedly took the items off of planes and out of luggage.

Ibarra worked for the company for 41 years.

Police also said they recovered property stolen from American Airlines. But the airport won't elaborate on what was taken.

American Airlines in a statement said it takes situations like this very seriously.

"We worked closely with local police on this matter, which ultimately led to the arrest of our employee. While the overwhelming majority of our employees are honest and hard-working, we have absolutely no tolerance for any dishonest behavior and will take appropriate action as necessary," said spokeswoman Andrea Huguely.
