Police officers donate DVD players and DVDs to sick children Posted: 11 Jan 2011 07:43 AM PST Kind hearted police officers dug deep into their Christmas raffle prize money to fund two new portable DVD players and DVDs for sick children. Officers working in Central CID section of North Wales Police used £100 from their annual Christmas raffle to supply the items to the children's wards at Glan Clwyd Hospital. Detective Constable Emma Hughes said that every year they held a major raffle and decided this year to donate some of the money to charity. She said: "We sell squares on a board for a pound each and this year managed to make £890 in total. All the money is used for prizes but we also decided to buy two portable DVDs and some DVDs for the children's ward at Glan Clwyd Hospital. "We had been sent an email from PC Melanie Hughes, based in Rhyl, asking for DVDs for the ward because at the time her daughter was in hospital and she had heard that they would be grateful for more of them. "We decided to use £100 of the money for this and we gave them to Mel who took them into the hospital," she said.
