DETROIT (AP) - New data from Ford shows preferences for car options and colors vary by region. The results can be surprising.

Seattle may be rainy and cool, for example, but buyers there are the most likely to get moon roofs and air-conditioned seats. Seattle dealer Mark Scarff says his buyers tend to have higher incomes and like having lots of high-tech options.

Drivers in New York, Los Angeles and Dallas are most likely to get back seat DVD players. Ford suspects that's because they have to drive further to get out of town on the weekends.

As for colors, orange is popular in sunny Phoenix, while drivers in Irish Boston like green.

Ford uses the data to ensure dealers have the right mix of cars on their lots.
