Raja back to the time when he lived in an estate and had to walk kilometres carrying water in containers on a bicycle. So, he wasted little time in dialling 1-800-88-5252 to notify Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas) of the leaking water. "I was worried to see so much water going to waste because I remember how difficult it was to get water in the estate," said Raja, who had called up the Syabas Customer Services Centre (Puspel). Today, he was rewarded for the phone call he had made to Syabas in April. Raja, a landscape worker, won a 32-inch LCD television set in a lucky draw for 15 selected Syabas caring consumers. Wong May Kuan, 30, of Sri Kembangan, also won a similar television set for having notified Syabas of a leaking pipe at her workplace in May. Muhd Amirul Hakim, 22, had complained about a broken pipe in his housing area in Section 9 here in June, and won a microwave oven today. Syabas Corporate Affairs executive director Abdul Halem Mat Som said the company received 264,578 complaints on various problems, including broken pipes, since the caring consumer programme was launched in 2005. The company allocated RM5,000 monthly (RM60,000 annually) to reward consumers who notified Syabas of such problems, he said. Other prizes given away included DVD players and home theatre systems. Abdul Halem said complaints to Syabas could also be made through its Facebook and Twitter facilities.
