| Red Claws to Host Free Ewaste Recycling Drive September 11 at Expo Posted: 03 Sep 2010 07:45 AM PDT September 3, 2010 - NBA Development League (D-League) Maine Red Claws  PORTLAND, ME - The Maine Red Claws will join with eWaste Maine and The Portland Press Herald on Saturday, September 11 to host a disposal/recycling drive for old electronic equipment. Residents of Maine are invited to recycle hard to dispose of electronics by bringing them to the parking lot of the Portland Exposition Building, home of the Maine Red Claws, located at 239 Park Avenue in Portland. Items will be collected from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM. There is no charge to dispose of items. The recycling drive is open to Maine residents only; businesses interested in recycling should contact eWaste Maine at (207) 312-5700 or Clark@ewastemaine.com. Examples of items that will be collected during the free recycling drive include: Household Electronics (TVs, DVD players, VCR, radio/stereo, microwave ovens etc), Computers and Peripherals (keyboard, mouse, scanner, printer etc), Batteries, Cell Phones, Game Consoles, etc. Items that cannot be accepted include: Appliances and White Goods (ovens, washer/dryers, etc.) Freon Bearing Items (refrigerators, air conditioners), Fluorescent Bulbs, Mercury Bearing Items (thermometer, thermostats, etc.) The event will benefit the Bruce Roberts Toy Fund, providing holiday gifts to thousands of children in need in Cumberland, Knox, Lincoln, Sagadahoc and York counties. Since 1949, the toy fund has provided gifts to struggling families through contributions from readers of The Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram. Additional donations to the toy fund will also be gratefully accepted during the event, and everyone making a donation will be eligible to win Red Claws memorabilia. "It seems like technology changes constantly, and I am sure we all have old cell phones, VCRS, and outdated computers that can be difficult and expensive to dispose of and end up piling up at home," said Red Claws President and General Manager Jon Jennings.
